Amarillo forward Martino makes NCAA DI commitment

January 22, 2021

The Amarillo Bulls of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward Nick Martino has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey at Army West Point next season.

The 5’8/165 lbs. native of Glenolden, PA was named captain of the Bulls earlier this season and has 12 points (3 goals, 9 assists) in 17 games played so far this season.

“I’m beyond excited and proud to have the opportunity to play Division 1 hockey and purse academic excellence at West Point,” said Martino.

Martino, 20, previously spent time in the NAHL with the Johnstown Tomahawks but played the majority of the 2019-20 season in Canada.

“We would like to congratulate Nick on his commitment to West Point. He has not only been an impactful player for us, but has also taken on the responsibility of being our Captain and maintained both responsibilities very well,” said Bulls Head Coach Rocky Russo. “His compete level, accountability and discipline will serve him well as a student-athlete at the NCAA level. I know Coach Riley and his staff are very excited to have Nick join their Army family.”

“Thanks to family, Coach Russo and Lewis, and the town of Amarillo for making this opportunity possible and for the endless support,” Martino said. “I feel more than prepared to lead and have success at West Point.”
