New Mexico defenseman Hutchinson makes NCAA DI commitment

The New Mexico Ice Wolves of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that Top Prospects defenseman Jeff Hutchinson has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Augustana University in the CCHA.

Hutchinson, 20, his playing in his third and final season of junior hockey in the NAHL, which has all been spent all primarily with the Ice Wolves. The 6’2/200 lbs. native of St. Louis, MO, is currently having his best career season as he has recorded 31 points (6 goals, 25 assists) in 45 games played to date.

Hutchinson was recently selected to and played in the 2023 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament for the South Division team, where he had an assist in two games. He also played in the 2022 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament for the South Division.

Hutchinson made his NAHL debut with the Bismarck Bobcats on January 31, 2020. He would end up playing in eight games with Bismarck until joining the Ice Wolves early in the 2020-21 season. During his rookie season, he had seven points in 44 games played.

During the 2021-22 season, he appeared in 53 regular season games and had 13 points. He also appeared in all 13 Robertson Cup Playoff games for the Ice Wolves, who made it to the Robertson Cup Semi-Finals that season.

Overall in 147 career NAHL regular season games Hutchinson has recorded 51 points.
