December 19, 2023

The Shreveport Mudbugs of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that defenseman and captain William Fleet has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for the University of Alaska-Fairbanks.

Fleet, 19, is currently in his second year of playing junior hockey in the NAHL for the Mudbugs. The 6’2/205 lbs. native of Denver, CO, has appeared in 29 games so far during the 2023-24 season and recorded 22 points (4 goals, 18 assists).

“I’m proud to announce my commitment to play Division 1 hockey for the University of Alaska Fairbanks. I’d like to thank my family, coaches, and teammates who supported me along the way,” said Fleet.

During his rookie season with Shreveport in 2022-23, Fleet recorded seven points in 47 games played. He also posted three points in eight Robertson Cup Playoff games.

Prior to playing in the NAHL, Fleet played youth hockey for the Rocky Mountain RoughRiders.

He is the third member of the 2023-24 Mudbugs roster who is committed to play NCAA Division I hockey.
