Lipinski, Guentzel make commitments

May 20, 2008

Matt Lipinski played two seasons in the NAHL before accepting an offer to Northeastern.

The Motor City Machine has announced that second-year forward Matt Lipinski has committed to Northeastern University (Hockey East) for the upcoming season.

Lipinski, a 20-year-old from Faribault, Minn., totaled seven goals for 31 points during the 2007-08 season with the Southern Minnesota Express, which relocated to Michigan (Motor City) in March.

“We’re very proud of Matt,” said Machine coach-GM Matt Romaniski.  “He’s worked hard for the opportunity and I’m confident he’ll have a great career at Northeastern, both on the ice and in the classroom.”

In addition, former defenseman Gabe Guentzel has committed to Colorado College (WCHA) for the 2008-09 season.  The 20-year-old from Woodbury, Minn., recorded three goals for 23 points for the Express in 2006-07.
