New Jersey forward Outzen makes NCAA D1 commitment

March 6, 2020
The New Jersey Titans, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that Top Prospects forward Michael Outzen has committed to play NCAA Division 1 Hockey for the Northeastern University Huskies, who play in Hockey East.

Outzen, 20, is in his second year with the Titans.  He has a combined eighty-five points (32 goals and 53 assists) in 103 career games.

This season the 6’0/185 lbs. native of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, is currently third on the team in total points with 54 (18 goals and 36 assists) in 49 games. He leads the team in game winning goals (5) and he leads the league in total power play points (24). He also is in the league’s top five in shorthanded points (5).

Outzen was selected to and played in the 2020 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament last month where he had an assist in two games for the East Division.

“I am so grateful for this opportunity and very excited to join the Northeastern family,” stated Outzen. “It’s a dream come true knowing that I will be joining a prestigious university and hockey program. I would like to thank my parents and my brother for the constant devotion and support. I also would like to thank the Titans coaches as well as my teammates for helping me reach this goal.”

“We are so proud of Michael and happy for him and his family,” stated Titans head coach Craig Doremus. “Michael has worked long and hard to achieve his dream of playing Division I hockey. He has played a big role on our team for two years now. He has played in all situations for us and has excelled in all of them. This year he has established himself as one of the more lethal offensive players in our league. He will be a great addition to the Huskies at Northeastern. We are thrilled to have Michael be a big part of our team in pursuit of the Robertson Cup.”

Northeastern University is in Boston, MA. The Huskies are coached by Jim Madigan. They currently have a 17-12-3 record.
