June 1, 2020

The Kansas City Scouts (formerly the Topeka Pilots) are pleased to announce that defenseman Jordan Kovacs has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
Kovacs, 20, just completed his second and final season playing junior hockey in the NAHL. The 5’10/180 lbs. native of Shelby Township, Michigan, had his career-best season in 2019-20 with the Pilots, recording 16 points (1 goals, 15 assists) in 50 games played. That included his first and only NAHL goal, which came at the NAHL Showcase back on September 20th in a 5-4 win over the Northeast Generals.
“We are proud of Jordan and his recent commitment to UW-Eau Claire. Jordan was a big part of our program last year and provided leadership and guidance for our younger players. We wish him all the best as he steps on campus in the fall,” said Scouts head coach Simon Watson.
“Thank you to all I’ve met on this journey, I’m pumped to announce I’ll be attending the beautiful UW-Eau Claire in the fall to pursue my education and play hockey! #Back2School,” stated Kovacs on Twitter.
Kovacs began his career in the NAHL during the 2018-19 season with the Minnesota Wilderness, where he played in three games at the NAHL Showcase. He was then traded to the Fairbanks Ice Dogs, where he spent the remainder of the season. Overall in 82 career NAHL games, Kovacs recorded 19 points.
Prior to playing in the NAHL, Kovacs played high school hockey in Michigan for DeLaSalle High.
